What is “learning to be human again”?

Throughout diverse regions of the globe and for many thousands of years, ancient humans created cultural structures to guide and support people in their full emotional and physical development.  Each increase in emotional maturity earned a new level of honor, recognition, and special privileges and responsibilities.

Our current culture, which has spread rapidly over the planet in the past few thousand years, rewards only an adolescent mentality of competition for attention and achievement. By revising our beliefs and values toward those which support cooperative behavior and emotional maturity, we can ‘learn to be human again’ while still making use of the technologies and infrastructure available to us in our current culture.

It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” – J. Krishnamurti
